Sixty people from Dilling, Southern Kordofan state have been detained for over a year without trial according to the Sudanese Network for Human Rights.
Arrested on the 18th November and since transported to Kadugli, many of the detainees are elderly and are reportedly being mistreated.
The human rights network reported, “We received confirmed reports that the detainees were brutally tortured by security forces as well as military intelligence and held in small cells with poor ventilation in Kadugli town.”
Radio Tamazuj has not confirmed these reports independently.
It was reported earlier in November that 33 women and one man were arrested in Kadugli for suspected ties to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and were held without trial. It is not clear whether this recent group includes the detained women.
